Worship is our personal and gathered response to God, in spirit and in truth, in appreciation for who He is and what He has done. It is expressed by what we say, sing and most of all, the way we live. The worship ministries at First Southern Baptist Church focus mainly on singing and playing instruments; however, we do not believe that playing and singing praise to God in a church service is, in and of itself, a complete worship experience. We do believe that singing praise to God is a command to all and is a powerful and correct way to respond to our God’s blessings.
Psalm 66:1-2 states:
"All together now—applause for God!
Sing songs to the tune of his glory,
set glory to the rhythms of his praise."
The messages that our songs communicate are central to how we lead the members of FSBC in worship. It matters little whether our music is loud or soft, fast or slow, performed by the entire band or a single voice...the heart of our music must and will always accurately reflect the message of the Scriptures. Though we believe our enjoyment of God brings Him glory and praise, truly authentic worship is not about what we want, need, or prefer. He is our joy and satisfaction, and we relish in directing all praise and glory to Him.
